Match Preview- England v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758- 2nd One Day International
Sri Lanka will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss they suffered in the first One day International when they take on the England side at Headingley dated, 1st, July, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, will be looking to build on from where they left and take advantage of the home conditions as they eye on taking a commanding lead in the series.
However on a personal note the new captain will be looking for some runs at the top of the innings to boost his confidence as well setting an example for the team.
The second one day international will be played at Leeds, Headingley where the last time the two sides met was in 2006. At that time Sri Lankan side came on top with a high scoring match ended with centuries from the recently retired Srilankan legend Sanath
jayasuriya and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WU-Tharanga-c2802.
The tides have however turned now, with England having installed a new captain as well as performing well with their attack posing more of a threat than five years ago.
England
Everything appears upbeat for the England team. After a delayed start to the first match, Cook and his side failed to put a foot wrong as they comfortably ran out winners by a massive 110 runs.
It will be highly important for them that their captain gets some runs under his belt. If he does that it would certainly help the team up front and make life easier for the middle order. Moreover http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 will be looking to carry his good form after
a well made 61 at the top.
They have a strong middle order comprising of Bell, Trott and Pietersen along with the ever reliable http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 who certainly has matured into one of  cricket’s best finisher. So England does not need to tinker with the batting lineup.
However they face a tough situation in the bowling department. With the new T20 captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 not performing well and questions regarding his fitness, England face a decision whether to play 4 seamers or rest Broad.
Apart from that, the bowling attack will be the same comprising of the inform http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501.
Sri Lanka
The Sri Lankan batsmen continue to underperform under the English conditions. Srilanka will be looking to the ever reliable duo of Mahela Jayawardene and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 to come good.  Both average less than half of their career averages in England which
is a cause of concern for the Sri Lankan team.
After the emotional retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LD-Chandimal-c1831 is man most likely to slot in the middle order.
In the bowling department also they need someone to support http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864 will be hard to fill but Sri Lanka will be looking for Jeevan Mendis to step up and perform well.
Conditions:
Sri Lanka would be hoping for the sun to show so that England bowlers do not take advantage of some swing. The forecast is for a sunny with little chance of rain.
Key stats:
Anderson remains six wickets away from joining the 200 wicket club mark.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 needs 41 more runs to reach 1000 runs in one day international against England.
