Match compatibility method in Proposal Daisukasen (Operation Love)?

There's a compatibility test the high school students did in the Japanese drama Proposal Daisukasen, and I was just curious how it works and/or how to run the test.

i think here it goes..

you list all the alphabet and number it from 1 - 26.

then you put the number at each yours and your partner's name.

combined the numbers altogether.

every single number, you add up the number next to it.

continue adding up until the numbers remain two single number.

so there's your compatibility percentage.
