Match draws in 3-3, Germany versus Korea: Women Hockey Recap
Interestingly the second match of the Four Nations Hockey Cup between Germany and Korea ended in a 3-3 draw that took place in German city of Berlin on June 17, 2011. It was a cliff-hanging contest where both squads scored three goals each in both the periods.
Four teams including Germany, Australia, Argentina and Korea are donning the colours of Berlin’s Four Nations Cup, ahead of the 2011 Champions Trophy preparations.
The game between the German and Korean women commenced at a very fast pace with both teams struggling to get the ball possession.
The German strikers made several penetrations in the opening minutes. However, they could not get their team into the score-net until the 8th minute of the game.
In the eighth minute, the host side earned a short-corner and tested Natascha Keller. In quite a brilliant way, Keller executed the shot past Korean goalie to open the scoring at 1-0. However, it was the only offence from German players in the opening set
of play.
After the first goal, both the teams started more offensive style of play and carried out strikes against each other, as Korea wanted to level the score, while the host wanted to hold back the lead.
At last the consistent efforts from Korea bore fruits for them and they succeeded to level the game. In the 12th minute of the game, Kim Jong Hee managed to take the ball at the top of the circle and unleashed a powerful scoop at the back of the
net to make the score even at 1-1. In a matter of three minutes, Cho Eun Ji of Korea took the ball under their control and made a lengthy run towards the downfield. After dribbling a couple of defenders, she pushed the ball into the cage and put her team ahead
on the score-board at 2-1.
Having a one-goal lead in hands, the Korean girls started more offensive style of play and lashed out several attacks against the host side.
Kim Jong Eun of Korea in the 21st minute of the game scored another goal and established their dominance on the field. After the first half of play, the visiting team of Korea was hanging on to a two-goal edge, 3-1.
However, the second half completely belonged to Germany which obtained a couple of goals and tied the knots. In the 39th minute of the match, Tina Bachmann converted a short-corner and reduced the lead down to a single goal, 3-2. In a matter of
six minutes, Bachmann scored off another penalty-corner and had it all even. After an end-to-end play in the remaining time-period, the match ended with both teams levelled at 3-3.
