Matej Hlinican punishes Andreas Johansson in Men’s Singles qualifying round at Slovak Open 2012
Matej Hlinican, a talented young shuttler from Slovakia, made his home fans happy by showing his impressive craft as he played tremendous badminton in Men’s Singles qualifying round and outplayed Sweden’s Andreas Johansson at the Victor Slovak Open 2012
in Slovakia, on Thursday, September 6.
The impressive Matej, who was the un-seeded player in the Men’s Singles qualifying round of Slovak Open, put up a fabulous show of top quality badminton against his Swedish opponent and remained successful in winning the battle in a completely lopsided way.
The in-form Slovakian shuttler played with great control in his strokes and cheered his home fans by finishing off the journey of Andreas in straight sets with a one-sided margin in just 24 minutes.
Meanwhile, Andreas failed to show aggression the on court as he could not capitalise his attacking play against his in-form local opponent and ultimately bowed down to him with a humiliating margin on the score-board.
The first set of this competition was absolutely interesting for the local fans as their hero played with impressive speed and control as he remained successful in taking an early lead without spending much time on the court.
The Swedish shuttler, on the other hand, could not return the attacking shots of his Slovakian rival and trailed on the score-board.
The spirited Matej remained positive in his play as he manipulated all loop-holes of his opponent and took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the local shuttler continued playing in similar attacking fashion without showing any mercy to Andreas and bagged the first game with an authoritative 21-8 score on the board.
The second game almost identical as Matej again showed urgency in getting strong position on the board as he unleashed his powerful smashes on side lines of the court and managed to earn a spectacular lead until the break.
The local player remained on track without facing any interruption from his confused opponent and easily ended up the set in a dominating fashion by a 21-7 margin on score board.
Matej emerged as victorious in this qualifying round contest in straight sets in just 24 minutes with a crushing margin of 21-8 and 21-7.
