Material Boy eyeing victory over Caminero in Racing Welfare Novices´ Handicap Hurdle at Ludlow
Caminero has been consistent over the last few weeks. Therefore, the bookmakers are not reluctant to award him with the highest starting price for the Racing Welfare Novices´ Handicap Hurdle, to be held at Ludlow on Thursday, April 05.
Despite declaring Caminero as favourite, the bookies are not ready to ignore Material Boy, who was impressive on his last outing at Ludlow.
Considering recent stats, we are forced to rate these two runners as joint favourites. Some of the bookmakers are also expected to give them the highest odds for the 2m5f event, which will get underway at 16:50 GMT.
On a solid ground, ten ace runners will compete for a cash prize of £3,899. Their names are: Caminero, Material Boy, City Press, Hoare Abbey, Rowlestone Lad, Mac Beattie, Cydonia, Sohappyharry and Keltic Crisis.
After making a winning debut in November last year, Caminero went to a long break. The five-year-old made his seasonal return on February 17, when he secured third place in the Reclaims UK Helping Soldiers Novices' Hurdle (Div II) at Sandown.
He remained unlucky in his subsequent race, as he could only seize third place in the Bridgestone "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle. With some inexperienced horses in today’s line-up, it is an ideal opportunity for Jamie Snowden’s trainee to register his second
victory.
On the other hand, Material Boy is also determined to record his maiden success. Although he was below par in his most recent outing, the bettors are likely to stake their money on him because of his previous good performance at Ludlow.
On February 22, the Walford & North Shropshire College Maiden Hurdle (Div I) saw him grabbing third position by staggering five lengths.
The aforementioned duo has a huge threat to face. Rowlestone Lad was decent in both of his trips last month. After winning Calverts Carpets York "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle, the John Flint-trained maintained good standard to lock runner-up slot in the
Les Swanwick Electrical Conditional Jockeys' Novices' Hurdle at Hereford.
It will be a tug of war between Caminero and Material Boy. Yet, the pair’s fans cannot afford to be complacent, as Rowlestone Lad might create an upset. We wish best of luck to everyone.
