  3. This can be proven false if there is a non-elastic material that transmits sound easily.  

    Water transmits sound easily.  It is not elastic.

    That might be a bad example, since water is a fluid.  However I think your statement is a generalization.  I am pretty sure it is not "true".  It seems to me that non-elasticity is good at transmitting sound in general.

    Back in the thirties they built sound concentrating things based on their experience with making megaphones and phonographs, and using the same theories as derived in optics.   Kind of cool.  There was a guy from Yale who did the same thing with microwave radio whose name was Hadden - very important

  4. Well, sound travels faster in a solid steel rod than it would rubber. So I'd have to say yes.
