Maternity leave and short term disability?

my dr gave me a note to start maternity leave. in the note he sited gestational diabetes, and that i am having pains related to pregnancy. i am only 34 weeks, but will i still qualify for short term disability pay at this point? did you have a similar situation and did you get paid?

  1. You will only get Short Term Disability if you have something like Aflack, or the company has this as part of their benefits. Most states do not pay this for pregnancy. You still are only covered by FMLA for 12 weeks (If you have been there for at least 12 months and the company has more than 50 employees.)


  2. as long as your doctor takes you out on leave then yes your STD will kick in.

    You will still only get the specified amount of weeks in your policy and will qualify for the 12 weeks maternity leave starting when you go out on leave.


  3. With the plan we have at my work as long as the doctor's note says that you cannot work because of this health condition, then it qualifies.

  4. Depends on your company and their policy...you should take to some one in human resources....If you've been on your job atleast a yr prior to you getting pregnant, then everything should be okay and you should receive pay....good luck
