1. u should go to public hospital instead at maternity

    :P

  2. you should check with individual hospitals about their "self pay" policies. i do have insurance but was considering going to a hospital that is not covered under our insurance plan. i will be doing drug free natural childbirth so obviously that is cheaper since you don't have to pay for the services of an anesthesiologist or the actual epidural and they have a flat rate fee of $3,000 which covers admittance and childbirth and the stay at the hospital (24-48 hours) until you are discharged. they will give you a list of things to bring so that you don't get charged extra like a bottle of tylenol (since one costs about $8 on a hospital bill) and a box of tissues (about $10 on the hospital bill) for everything they bring into your room for you to use, whether you use it or not they'll charge for. it is definitely something that many hospitals will work with you on, tho some may require payment when you are entering the hospital or before you are able to check out.

  3. Yes, you can pay to stay but they usually want half upfront and it is very expensive. I would look in to a state funded insurance for your birth..

  4. yes you can pay but you want to be careful, it can costs thousands! our insurance denied one of my co-workers to cover his daughter's birth and he received a 12,000 bill!

  5. You can, but it will COST you! Thousands. And if you have complications or need NICU care... don't even think about it.

If you are in Australia, I don't know why you'd bother doing this, the public system is excellent, and all paid for by Medicare.
