Math 0990 Elementary Algebra Help?

The difference of three times a number and 5/9 is the same as the sumer of twice the number and 1/9.

I just need help to write it out in the non-word format if anyone could help I would really be thankful.

  1. differance means... one thing subtracted from another.

    three times a number is... 3n cuz we don't know the number.

    the same as means... both sides equal each other

    sum means.. two numbers added.

    so .... 3n - 5/9 = 2n + 1/9


  2. 3x- 5/9= 2x+1/9

    x= 6/9  

  3. "Difference" means subtract.

    "Three times a number" = 3x

    So, "the difference of three times an number and 5/9" means

    3x - 5/9

    "is" means equals.

    "sum" means addition

    "twice the number" means 2x

    So, "the sum of twice the number and 1/9" is

    2x + 1/9

    Put it all together:

    3x - 5/9 = 2x + 1/9
