  1. (1926 - 1800) / 1800 = 7/100 = 7%

    The population increased by 7%.

  2. The most straight-forward method to deal with this question is the same way you would treat any fraction you wished to turn into a percentage. You should use the formula;

    (x)

    ------  x 100 = %

    (y)

    i.e. to show you how this would work for a more obvious fraction,

    3

    -- = 0.75  .       0.75 x 100 = 75%

    4

    So for your problem,

    1926

    -------  = 1.07,     1.07 x100 = 107%

    1800

    Therefore you can see that the school's population has increased by 7%

    (If you want to check this result you can use: 1926 - 1800 = 126;

    126 ÷ 1800 = 0.07,  0.07 x 100 = 7%. [This proves that the increase is the same as 7% of the original population])

    (if you want to ask me about a certain part of this, feel free)

    Hope this helps!

  3. First, subtract the numbers to know the increase, 1926 - 1800 = 126.

    Second, divide the increase by the original number, 126/1800 = ,07

    Third, convert to percentage by moving the decimal two places to the right, .07 = 7%

  4. Set up a proportion.

    1926 / 1800 = x / 100

    (percents are always out of 100.

    Cross multiply: 192600 = 1800x

    x = 107%, which makes sense because the population increased.
