The word 'of' means to multiply.

1.  3/4 of 4/9       multiply both numerators and both denominators and you have:

      12/36            which reduces to:

           1/3

2.  2/5 of 15/16      same thing

          30/80 = 3/8

Divide 3/5in. by 3/25in

3.  Divide 3/5in. by 3/25in    invert the divisor and multiply

               (3/5)(25/3) = 75/15 = 5

4. 8/9  ÃƒÂ·  2/9        divide the total area by the area of a section

    8/9  ÃƒÂ—  9/2 = 72/18 = 4

5. you have 63 gallons total so divide by 3/8 to see how many cans. Invert 3/8 and multiply.

     63/1 ×  8/3 = 504/3     504 is divisible by 3 because it's numbers add up to a number that is divisible by 3, 9. You do the math.

In the next one multiply the two fractions, and the same for the next one.

In the next one each piece is 1/3 of the total length of 27/32. multiply the two fractions.

In the last one divide the total area of 3/4ft² by 6.

Hi. I think the others are confusing you especially about the oil. My method is correct and the answer is 168 cans because you have 63 gallons total not 63/2.

1.3/4 of 4/9 = 3/4 x 4/9 so it becomes 12/36.. but 12/36 can be rounded of still so it becomes to 1/3.therefore the answer is 1/3.

2.2/5 x 15/16 = 30/ 80

3. 3/5 divided by 3/25, so first thing in dividing fractions is to get the reciprocal of the second number. so the reciprocal of the second  number is 25/3. the second thing in dividing fraction is to use multiplication rule , so your number will be like this, 3/5 x 25/3. third step is just to multiply and then you get the answer, therefore the answer is 75/15 but this can still be simplify so the final answer will be 5.

4.8/9 divided by 2/9 = 8/9 x 9/2 = 72/18. but 72/18 can still be simplify, so the final answer will be 4.

5.31 1/2 gallons divided by (3/8 x 2). do the operations that are in the parenthesis first. so, 3/8 x 2 is equal to 6/8. then divide 6/8 to 31 1/2 .so the answer will be 504/12, but 504/12 can still be simplify so the final answer will be 42. (42 cans)

To find a fraction of any fraction, you just multiply numerators and denominators.  For example:

3/4 * 4/9

  3*4 = 12

  4*9 = 36

  3/4 * 4/9 = 12/36 = 1/3

To divide fractions, just flip one upside-down and multiply.

so 3/5 divided by 3/25 = 3/5 * 25/3

  so 3*25 = 75

    5*3 = 15

  75/15 = 5

The next one, if X is cut into Y sections of Z length, your formula would be X/Y = Z.

  so 8/9 divided by Y = 2/9, solve for Y

  divide each side by 8/9 (or multiply each side by 9/8), and Y = 3/13

Next one: how much oil do you have total?  2 barrels at 63/2 gallons, divide that by 3/8.

Next one: again, to find a fraction of a fraction, just multiply, so

  45/64 * 4/5

Same for the next one.

Piece of Wire: 27/32 divided by 3/1. (flip one fraction and multiply)

   27/32 * 1/3 = ??

Last one: 3/4 divided by 6/1
