This is exactly what is says:

Evaluate the difference quotient for the given functions. Simplify your answer.

f(x) = 4 + 3x - (x^2),

f(3+h) - f(3)

-----------------

h

Am i supposed to find f(3+h) and f(3), than divide by h?

Thanks soOoO much!!

  1. yup! :)

I got 3-h as the answer, you might check that but your idea is right.

    [[4+3(3+h) -(3+h)^2] - 4+3(3) -(3)^2]/h

    [[4+9+3h - (3+h)(3+h)] - (4+9-9)]/h

    [[13+3h -(9 +6h +h^2)] -(4)]/h

    [13 +3h -9 -6h -h^2 -4]/h

    (3h -h^2)/h

    3-h
