  1. I'm not sure whether this is the Ladder Method, going from one power-of-10 unit to the next and moving the decimal point one place accordingly, until getting to the desired unit, but:

    kilograms = 1,000 grams

    Smaller unit to bigger unit; the number decreases. Move the decimal point to the left one place (divide by 10) to get to each unit.

    109g ---> 10.9 * 10g ---> 1.09 * 100g ---> 0.109 kg

    answer: 0.109 kg

    160 cm = ? mm

    Centimeters (100 m) to millimeters (1000 m), a bigger unit to a smaller unit, so the number increases.

    One step in this case; move the decimal point right one place (add a zero on the right side).

    160 cm ---> 1,600 mm

    answer: 1,600 mm

  2. 1000kg= 1g

    therefore, using diminesonal analysis

    (109g)*(1000kg)/1g

    The units of grams cancel your answer than is 1.09*10^-3 kg

    No clue to what ladder method is

  3. 109g= kg

    kilo(thousand) gram.

    109= 109.0

    move the decimal to the thousandth place.

    that's three places to the left.

    You'll get 0.109.

    So 109 grams equal 0.109 kilograms.
