  1. assuming you mean sqrt(x-1)+7=x, here is the answer

    sqrt(x-1)=x-7

    x-1=(x-7)^2

    x-1=x^2-14x+49

    x^2-15x=50=0

    factoring:

    (x-10)(x-5)=0

    x=10 and x=5
