here is the question:

the formula for the area of a trapezoid is A= 1/2h(b1=b2). Solve this formula for b1.

here are the choices

A: b1= A/2h+ b2

B: b1= A/2h- b2

C: b1= 2A/h+b2

D: b1= 2A/h-b2

if you think im sheating i am not i just want to be able to understand if i did this right since it is my first grade going into 8th grade. if you dont want to give me the answer at least explain it to me. thanks!!

  1. the answer is D. b1=2A/h-b2

    you divivde both sides by 1/2, so you get 2A=h(b1+b2)

    then you divide both sides by h, and yu get 2A/h=b1+b2

    then you subtract b2 by both sides, and you get the answer, which is

               D. b1=2A/h-b2
