Math - Linear equation help?

I'm really struggling with the subject we're doing in math at the moment (linear equations) any explanation or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

  1. i found this section the most easiest one but don't know how to help u out.................i think u should try to practice it more and more after understanding the concepts............the same problem was there with my brother also,he is doing a lot of practice n all and he told me it's working..............


  2. y = mx + b

    This is your standard form for linear equations

    m = the slope of the line

    x = the x-coordinate

    y = the y-coordinate

    b = constant

    you should be given other sources of information whether it be two points, the slope and a point, or anything else...

    if you were to get two points: you determine the slope from the two points using:

                                y2 - y1

                               -----------

                               x2 - x1

    from there you plug in that value into the m, and choose one of the two points and plug in the x and y values and from there you will get your b
