One night, after seeing a play Ms. Croospulle took a taxicab ride to TGI Fridays. Before getting into the cab she saw the sign:

Taxi Fees

Initaial Charge $2.00

First Mile $0.75

Each Additional Mile $0.40

Night Surcharge $0.50

Ms Croospulle's cab ride from the theatre to the resturant was 7 and a half miles. How much did the cab ride cost?

  1. The initial charge is added first (2.00) this is because it's always going to be there, its a standard beginning point for that particular taxi company.  The first time is (0.75) so that leaves 6 more miles to account for.  So six times the (0.40) will give you the rest.  However, because she traveled at night you must ad the additional (0.50).  So it ends up like this [ (2.00) + (0.75) + (6)(0.40) + (0.50) ] = 5.56 dollars

Keep working at math once you get it it's fun.

  2. $2+$0.75+6.5*$0.4+$0.5

    =$5.85

  3. 5.85
