  1. Take out the common variable, which is q:

    q(p^2-3) = 14

    Divide both sides by (p^2-3). You get:

    q = 14/(p^2-3)

  2. factor the left side of the equation...

    q(p^2 - 3) = 14

    divide by p^2 -3

    q = 14 / (p^2 - 3)  ANSWER

    Take care,

    David

  3. p²q - 3q = 14

    q(p² - 3) = 14

    q = 14 / (p² - 3)
