how fast does the car need to go on the second lap to average 60mph over both laps??? Hint: It's not 90mph.

  1. To average 30mph for 1 mile (one lap) takes 2 minutes.

    To average 60 mph for 2 miles (two laps) takes 2 minutes.

    You need to go infinite speed on the second lap to make up the average speed.

    at this speed you will average very very close to sixty miles an hour as it will only take 1 second to cover the second lap. Resulting in a time of 1 mile at 30mph taking 2 mins and 1 mile at 3600mph taking 1 second. The total time of 2:01 equates to an average speed of just under 60mph
