  1. First isolate the absolute value on one side of the equation:

    |x - 2| + 3 = 10 (subtract 3 from both sides)

    |x - 2| = 7

    The value inside the signs can be either negative or positive, so x will have two different values. Make two equations, one that equals 7 and one that equals -7:

    x - 2 = 7 or x - 2 = -7 (add 2 to both sides)

    x = 9 or x = -5 <===ANSWER

  2. |x| + 3 = 12

    |x| = 9

    x = 9

    that is the correct answer i checked it

    hope this helps!
