The temperature T (in degrees fahrenheit) of saturated steam increases as pressure increases. This relationship is approximated by the model.

T= 75.82 -2.11x +43.5√x

5 is less than or equal to x and x is less than or equal to 40

where x is the absolute pressure (in pounds per square inch). Approximate the pressure when the temperature of the steam is 240 degrees F.

Thanks for the help guys, I am completely lost...WHOEVER shows their work and gets right answer will get 10 points.

  1. 240=75.82-2.11(√x)^2-2.11x

    x= 24.746

  2. T= 75.82 -2.11x +43.5√x

    First I transposed the equation

    43.5√x - 2.11x - 164.18 = 0

    Then I ran an iteration and got x = 24.74678718411

    Insert 5 -> x = -77.461

    Insert 40 -> x = 26.538

    Then converge to x = 0
