  1. Go buy an easy dot to dot book and copy the ones that are 1-10.  Then have them connect and color them.

My granddaughter is 4 and now I have to get her books that go up to 100.

  2. http://www.nickjr.com/parenting/ages_and...

I think this link will be useful in this field.

  3. Counting-how many steps to get across the classroom, how many big jumps, how many little jumps, how many marching steps down the hall. Counting objects and people-there are 4 nap mats, and there are 4 children. Letting the kids SEE that

    numbers are more that symbols.

  4. I graduated with an associates degree in early childhood education and taught 2 & 3 year olds at a daycare.  These are some activities that they seemed to enjoy.

Get flash cards with the numbers on them and then maybe some shapes and have them count them.  It may seem like its on a higher level, but the more you introduce them to numbers the easier it becomes for them to recognize them.

We also had a bowl that I put different color construction pieces in and each one had numbers and dots on it.  I let the children reach in and pick one and then tell me which number it is and then count the dots on the back.

The kids also like to learn their shapes.  Shape puzzles are mos effective with this and its easy to teach them the number of sides that a shape has when u have a puzzle.

You can also go to this website www.enchantedlearning.com.  They have many different ideas that incorporate games with learning themes like math.

  5. counting is always good

you can make work sheets with pictures and have them count the pictures

    they can count objects

    they can count foods

you can also go on the computer and look for worksheets

  6. Have the children take blocks ( I used the cardboard ones that look like bricks) and stack as many as they can and help them count how high they went. You could also help them stack them to reach their height and tell help them count how many "blocks" tall they are.

Have them glue pom poms or some other item beside a corresponding number 2 pom poms beside the number 2 etc.

Of course there are always the finger plays of ten little monkeys. Just counting toes and fingers is math.

Finding shapes around the classroom. Ask a child at circle to find something shaped like a circle, another to find a square.

So many things that you do in early child hood has so many opening for math, language, art and social play. Think about musical chairs. This sounds a bit choppy but I hope it helps a little.

  7. party like a math stat

  8. Gosh where to begin - we bury felt numbers in our sensory table in sand - five green speckled frogs, all those fingerplays that count up or down is math - stacking blocks as tall as you are (we use the big cardboard blocks)  - mark a paper in sections and put a different number in each section and have them put that many stickers on that section.  Make a book of five little snowmen - start with one stamp of a snowman, next page has two, next has three and so forth.  I hope these help -we do math every day - things that others in older grades might not understand as math but for the young ones, it's math!
