Can someone give me the math behind how Nadal is going to overtake Federer's no.1 ATP ranking.

  1. I believe you got your answer!  Rafa helped to close the gap at Wimbledon this year along with Queens.


  2. Federer scored 850 points in Toronto and Cincy last year. These points have to be deleted after 52 weeks. Because of the olympics this year, the scheduled has  been rearranged, such that both these tournaments were played two weeks early. That's why the points are taking so long to delete. In these two tournaments, Nadal scored something like 260 points last year. When these points are deleted, Nadal will gain 590 points on Roger (850 - 260). Right now he is 225 points behind. That's why on August 18 when those points are deleted, Nadal will be #1.
