how can i factor 6x squared + 29x + 28

  1. Assume that it factors as (ax + b)(cx + d).  You know that ac = 6 so a and c are either both positive or both negative.  Either a = 6, c = 1 or a = 1, c = 6 or a = 2, c = 3 or a = 3 and c = 2.  You know that bd = 28 so again b and d are either both positive or both negative.  You know that ad + bc = 29.

    6x² + 29x + 28 = (2x + 7)(3x + 4)
