Math help! 6x (x-3) = 0 find x!!!!!!?

this is algebra, i did this last year towards the end of the year, but now there is this problem on my math hw but i forgot how 2 do it.

do you do distributive property first and get 6x squared - 18 x = 0 ?

and then how do you do it?? thanks to all who answers

  1. Well you need to set both factors of the equation to zero.

    6x=0 and x-3=0

    So you get x=0, and x=3


  2. You don't need to distribute. Let each factor = 0

    6x = 0, x = 0

    x - 3 = 0; x = 3
