  1. does ur teacher teach you Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

it helps each big letter represents something

    P: ( )

    E:exponents

    M: multiplication

    D; division

    A;addition

    S: subtraction

multiplication and division doesn't matter which one comes first but they do come before addition and subtraction

    so in the first one

you would multiply 3 times 3 equals 9 then multiply 1/3 which equals to 3 then add 18 which is 21

for the second one you multiply 2.5 times .25 which equals which is .625 then divide by 5 which gives you the answer you got 0.125

good luck with the trick i showed you

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

  2. a) 1/3 (3*3) = (1/3)* (3*3) = 3*3 / 3 = 3

    so  1/3 (3*3) + 18 = 3 + 18 = 21

    b) 2.5 * 0.25 = 10/4 * ¼ = 10 / 16 = 5 / 8

    so   (2.5 * 0.25) / 5 = (5 / 8) / 5 = 1 / 8 = 0.125

  3. 1/3 (3*3) + 18.

    1/3*9 + 18

one third of 9 is 3 so

    3+18=21

    2.5 * .25 / 5

    .625 / 5

    .125

you were wrong for the first one but right for the second one. just keep trying and i hope my source was helpful.

  4. ok, that makes no since. Your confusing me. One way to remember order of opperations is: "Please (parenthesis), Excuse (exponent), My ) Dear (multiply, division) Aunt Sally (add, subtract). GOOD LUCK! (:
