  1. Jo has it right.

    Multiples of 16:

    1x16

    2x8

    4x4

    -1x-16

    -2x-8

    -4x-4

    then plug it in

    -4 - -4 = 2

    the answer is

    a=-4 and b=-4

  2. can you make sure you got that right?

  3. a=9

    b=7

  4. a+b=16

    b=16-a.  (Just rewrite the problem)

    a - (16-a) = 2

    a-16+a=2

    a+a=18

    2a=18

    a=9

    Therefore,

    9+b=16

    b=7

  5. Is that ab=16 ?

    if so i would list out the multiples of 16

    1x16            now take the multples subtract them until you get 2

    2x8                   none of these do so......

    4x4

    -2x-8

    -1x-16

    -4x-4

    maybe im doing it wrong
