  1. X = number of quarters

    52-X = number of dimes.

    .25X+.10(52-x)=6.25

    .15X+5.2=6.25

    .15x=1.05

    x= 7

    7 Quarters, 45 dimes

    7*.25+45*.10 = 6.25

  2. x + y = 52

    .10x + .25y = 6.25

    take 2nd equation and multiply it by 10 and you get

    x + 2.5y = 62.5

    now you have a system of equations in which you can subtract

        x   +    y     =    52

    - ( x   + 2.5y   =     62.5)

    _____________________

               -1.5 y  =  -10.5

                     y =      7

    which means x  = 45

              45 dimes and 7 quarters

  3. Why do you need help on all of these problems? They are simple...

    0.25x + 0.1y = 6.25

    (x + y = 52)-.1

    -0.1x -0.1y = -5.2

    0.15x = 1.05

    x = 7 quarters

    y = 45 dimes

  4. 7 quarters and 45 dimes
