Is there a way to brush up on my math skills without stepping inside a classroom? Do you think instructional math cds will help?

  1. it depends on whether you really like math or not. Not sure if it'd work for you but i worked for me. Ask youself: what kind of math problem do i have most trouble with? then go to the internet and search for that math problem and learn about it. Create some math problems related to that math problem and solve them yourself. If you have trouble, ask!! Read your math textbook. Do the exersises. Learn more about math that is beyond your math level. I'm in Pre-cal but i teach myself calculus I and calculus II. I strongly sugguest you to go to Math section and answer some math problems. By helping people, you're also helping yourself understand math better. The more you answer, the more you learn. That's how i learn math. It's all about teaching yourself.

    i wish you luck! :-)

  2. You REALLY need to be more specific on what you're going after with this.  Like what kind of math are we talking?  Like high school stuff, ACT/SAT, GRE...?

At any rate I guess it doesn't matter too too much.  Classrooms are fairly worthless save for that they force you to go through the material.  If you are disciplined enough to do it on your own then all you need is a book.  Seriously, all teachers do is go through the book and regurgitate the c**p that's in them (which isn't a bad thing, because the stuff in them is usually pretty important).

  3. first determination and then implementation helps.

  4. It depends on how you learn.  I learn best in a classroom setting.

Have a done quite well in math.  I do not think that I could have learned it from a CD.  Though, it may be helpful for a review or the material.
