2.) The lengths of the sides of a triangle are in the ratio 5 : 6 : 7. Describe the length of the longest side if the perimeter is less than 54cm.

3.) Find the lesser of two consecuive itegers with a sum greater than 16.

  1. I love math, so I'm tempted to help anyone with questions. But you need to at least TRY to do your homework first. If you get stuck you can ask a question, but not just ask for help with every number. If you do that, how will you get through the NEXT assignment if you didn't learn the first steps?

    So, to get you started, I'll help out w/#4. Write an equation:

    220 + 7x = 500 .... then just solve it! x= # of students

    7x = 500 - 220

    7x = 280 (divide both sides by 7 to leave x standing alone)

    x = 40

    And don't forget to label, so 40 students can go.

  2. 1)  x is one side x + 3 is the other side

        2x + 2( x + 3) < 52

        2x + 2x + 6 < 52

        4x < 46

         x < 11.5

       one side is less than 11.5 in.   the other side is less than 14.5 in

    2)  3x < 54

           x < 18

    this would be the middle length side since it is divisible by 6

    so the ongest side would 7 times 3 =21 longest side is less than 21 cm

    3) x + x+ 1 > 16

        2x > 15

        X > 7.5

        cons. integers would be 8,9

    4) 220 + 7x  <= 500

       7x <=  280

        x<= 40
