  1. not hard at all

    deduction is all you need

find two that are similar, and have 1 item difference

    e.g. (for example)

    2) $2.20 = 4) $1.65 + an egg (AHA!)

so what does an egg cost?? 2.20 - 1.65

    and

    4) $1.65 = 3) $.90 + bacon

so what does bacon cost??  1.65 -.90

now if we know the price of an egg

what does 5) mean for the price of toast??

and now that you know what THREE of them are - we can certainly find the 4th

    now I am HUNGRY!!! mmMMmmmMMmm

    all the best

  2. 1 egg = 55 cents

    1 bacon = 75 cents

    1 toast = 40 cents

    1 milk = 50 cents

Based on these figures, you can figure out the last two.

Here's how I got those figures:

eggs... the difference between the first and second menu items is a single egg... $2.75 - $2.20 = $0.55

bacon... the difference between the third and fourth menu items is a single piece of bacon... $1.65 - $0.90 = $0.75

toast... on the fifth menu item I now know the price of a single egg; the only thing I don't know is the price of a single toast... $0.95 - $0.55 = $0.40

milk... on the second menu item the only thing that is unknown up to this point is the milk... $2.20 - $0.55 - $0.40 - $0.75 = $0.50

  3. 2e+t+b+m = 2.75

    e+t+b+m = 2.20

    t+m = 0.90

    t+b+m = 1.65

    e+t = 0.95

    rearrange equation 1 to read

    e+t+b+m = 2.75-e

you can now substitute this into equation 2

    2.75-e = 2.20

solve for e and you know that 1 egg = 0.55

    substitute into the last equation

    0.55+t = .95

    Toast costs 0.40

    substitute into the 3rd equation

    0.40+m = 0.90

    Milk costs 0.50

substitute into the toast, bacon, milk equation

    .40+b+.50 = 1.65

    bacon costs 0.75

the last two you simple add the prices you know know.
