x = (2/3)y-4

Times each side by three.

3x = 2y-4

Plus four to each side.

3x+4 = 2y

Divide each side by two.

y = 3x+4/2

isnt the something wrong in this step when you times each side by 3 dont you also times the -4 by 3 so it would be -12

  1. well it's supposed to be

    3x  = 2y - 12

    Add four to each side

    3x + 4 = 2y - 8

    Divide each side by 2

    3/2x + 4 = y - 4

    Final Answer would be

    y = -3/2x - 8

  2. this is how i would do it

    x=(2/3)y-4

    times everything by three

    3x=2y-12

    add 12 to each side

    3x+12=2y

    divide everything by 2

    y=1.5x+6

    this is how i would solve for y

    x = (2/3)y-4

    y=1.5x+6

    i dont know if you need this but

    x=(2/3)(1.5x+6)-4

    3x=2(4.5x+18)-12

    3x=9x+36-12

    3x=9x+24

    0=6x+24

    -24=6x

    x=-4

    y=1.5x+6

    y=1.5(-4)+6

    y=-6+6

    y=0

    x=-4

    y=0
