Math question on a function?

Question

In g(3) = -1, to graph it, would the point be (3,-1) or (-1,3)?

g(x) = y, therefore x=3 and y= -1, which would make it g(3) = -1

(3,-1) is the answer because g(3) = -1 can be written as this y = -1 ...

It says in the function that if the value of x is 3 then the value of y would be -1...
