Math question traveling 70mph how long would it take to go .28 miles?

This is for a speeding ticket, but I know I wasn't speeding. Police stated I was going 70mph, but I just got on the expressway .28 miles back. How long would it take to go .28 miles at 70 mph. I drive a Chevy Equinox and it take 9.1secs to go from 0-60.

Well, you could solve it in a proportion;

0.28      9.1

------ = --------    

70        100

70 x 9.1 = 637  100 x 0.28 = 28

      ____

28 |637    = 22.75 seconds.

I'm not sure if i'm right, put i'm pretty confident :)

You could easily accelerate to 70mph in that distance - which is more than a quarter mile.

Accelerating from a dead stop you could get to over 80mph in that distance in a Chevy equinox.  It would take about 17 seconds.

But to answer your question:

70mph is about 103 ft/sec

.28 miles is 1478 ft

1478/103 =  14.3 seconds

Anyway, you are not going to prove your case with math.
