  1. The reason the metric system is so popular world wide

    is that it always works in base 10

    a kilo = 1000 of any type of measurement

    meter is the base measurement

    kilo-meter means 1000 meters

    9kilo - meters means 9000 meters

    9 kilometers = 9000 meters


  2. what you do is you have to start at 9km and remember that you have to add three 0's to it which will give you 9000.
