  1.   make it an improper fraction

31/6  -  21/8  then find the least common denominator

    124/24-63/24=61/24=2  13/24

    365/410=x/100   365 * 100= 36500/410 =89.02%

    10 * 2.75=27.5 minutes  27 minutes 30 seconds

    245 +  5(120)=845 miles

she will travel abut 423 miles each of the 2 days  she will have to drive about 7 hours a day as 7 * 60 = 420

  2. I think it's time for you to get a tutor to ensure that you will graduate.  Good luck to you !!

    2  13/24

    Divide on calculator : 365/410

    10 * 2.75 = 27.5 minutes

    245 + 120*4 = 725 miles

    725/60 = 12.08333333333333 hours

12.0833333333333/2 = 6.042 so if she wants to split the drive into two days, she will have to drive 6.042 hours each day , 362.5 miles per day

  3. 5 1/6 - 2 5/8

    5x6... add 1 = (31/6)

    2x8... add 5 = (21/8)

find the common denominator (24) multiply top by the same

    31x4   (124/24)

    21x3   (63/24)

    Subtract 124 - 63

    Simplify

at the end of the first nine weeks jamie has 365 points out of 410. what is her percentage grade?

Just divide 365/410 and multiply by 100

if a jogger maintains a constant rate of 10 mins oer mile how long will it take the jogger to cover 2 3/4 miles?

    2.75 miles x 10 minutes per mile

kristin drove 245 miles the first day and 120 miles for each of the next 5 days. she plans to return in 2 days driving at 60 miles per hour. estimate the number of miles she will have to travel per day and the number of hours she will have to travel per day

    245 + (120x5) = How many total miles

divide by 60 mph = number of hours she has to drive

divide by 2 = number of hours per day

  4. first change them to improper fractions

    5 1/6 = ((5*6 + 1) / 30) = 31/30

    2 5/8 = ((2*8 +)  / 8 = 18/8

now multiply ecah fraction by the denominator of the other 1, over istelf

    31    X   8 = 248     DONT SIMPLIFY YET

    30    X   8 = 240

    18    X   30  =  540     again, dont simplify

    8     X    30  =  240  (same as other 1!!!)

now subtract the numerators and put them over the denominator

    248 - 580 = -292

    -292

    240

    now simplify    divide by 2

    -146

    60

    again

    -73

    30

    thats the answer

    number 2

simply divide the number she got over the total points possible then multiply by 100

    365 / 410  = .8902   X 100  =   89.24%

set up a porportion and cross multiply

    10 miles                  2.75

    _______       =      _________

    1 hour                      X hours

multiply the top right by botton left and top left by bottom right, then set them = to each other

    2.75   X   1    =    10   X

    simplify

    2.75  =  10X

to get X by itself divide by both sides by 10

    10X / 10  = X

    2.75  /  10  =  .275

    X = .275 hours

now if you need it in minutes set up another porportion

    60 minutes                X minutes

    __________     =      ______________

    1 hour                            .275 hours

    solve the same way

    60 * .275   =   1   *   X

    16.5 = X

therefore it takes her .275 hours or 16.5 minutes

convert to fraction   11/40 hours or 16 1/2 minutes

    now the last one

    it's long

first find the total number of miles

    day 1     245

    day 2     120

    day 3     120

    day 4     120

    day 5     120

    day 6     120

add them together to get 845

now we will dived by two for two days, assuming she travels the same amount each day

    845/2   =   422.5

now simply divide by 60 to find the total number of hours needed to travel

    422.5 / 60   =   7  1/24  hours per day

  5. I'm going to help you because you have your own teacher.

  6. 5 1/6 - 2 5/8

Step1: Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions:

5 1/6 = 31/6 (to find the numerator of the improper fraction, multiply the whole number 5 by the denominator 6 then add the numerator 1 = 31; retain the denominator 6; the improper fraction is 31/6).

    2 5/8 = 21/8 (same procedure as described above).

    5 1/6 - 2 5/8

    = 31/6 - 21/8

Note: You can't do subtraction yet since the denominators are not the same. You need to to express these fractions such that they will have the same denominators.

Step2: Determine the LCD, the least common multiple of the denominators 6 and 8:

    The prime factors of 6: 2, 3

    The prime factors of 8: 2, 2, 2

The LCD would be the least common multiple of these factors: 2*2*2*3 = 24

    Step3: Express 31/6 - 21/8 as a single fraction.

31/6 = 124/24 (the numerator is determined like this: 24 divided by 6 times 31; the new denominator is the LCD, 24)

    21/8 = 63/24 (numerator = 24 divided by 8 times 21)

    Step4: Proceed with the subtraction:

    5 1/6 - 2 5/8

    = 31/6 - 21/8

    = (124 - 63)/24

    = 61/24 ANSWER

at the end of the first nine weeks jamie has 365 points out of 410. what is her percentage grade?

    percentage = 365/410 * 100 = 89.02%

if a jogger maintains a constant rate of 10 mins per mile how long will it take the jogger to cover 2 3/4 miles?

    10 mins/mile * 2.75 miles = 27.5 minutes

kristin drove 245 miles the first day and 120 miles for each of the next 5 days. she plans to return in 2 days driving at 60 miles per hour. estimate the number of miles she will have to travel per day and the number of hours she will have to travel per day

    Total distance traveled = 245 + 5*120 = 845 miles

If she plans to return in 2 days, she will have to travel 845/2 = 422.5 miles per day.

And she will have to travel 422.5 miles / 60 mph = 7.041667 hrs/day or 7 hrs and 2.5 minutes per day.

  7. Jamie's percentage is 365/410 points or 89%

The jogger runs 10 min/mile.  You are looking for x/2.75, so just multiply by 2.75 and you get x=27.5 minutes.

Kristin drove a total of 845 miles.  Distance = speed x time, so 845 = 60 mph*6x.  Divide through and you get about 2.3 hours a day.  2.3 x 60 is 140 miles per day.

  8. 5 1/6 - 2 5/8

first you need to have a common denominator for 1/6 and 5/8.

    6 ^ 12 ^ 18 ^ 24

    8 ^ 16 ^ 24

for the 1/6: since 6*4=24 then you would multiply 1*4=4 and get 4/24

for the 5/8: since 8*3=24 then you would multiply 5*3=15 and get 15/24

    now you have 5 4/24 - 2 15/24

    you can't do 4-15 so...

take one whole from the 5 and add it to your fraction.. 4 and (24/24 + 4/24) which is 4 28/24

    now subtract 4 28/24 - 2 15/24

    2 13/24

    NEXT

do 365/410 which = .89 to change to percent multiply by 100

    89%

    NEXT

    10 min = 1 mile

    20 min = 2 miles

    so find 3/4 of 10 min = 7 1/2

so 2 3/4 miles would take 27.5 minutes

    NEXT

    245 + 120 + 120 + 120 + 120 + 120 = 845 miles total trip.

    845miles /2 days = 422.5 miles per day

422.5 miles/60 miles per hour = 7.041 hours per day.
