  1. {x|x>3}  means:  The set of all x's  such that x is greater than 3.

  2. {x|x>3} is the set of all numbers that are greater than 3.

    Since this could be a subset of several different sets (natural numbers |N, rational numbers (Q, real numbers |R), you should really also specify out of what set x has to be, e.g.:

    {x|x in |R, x>3}, the set of all real numbers greater than 3.

    {x|x in |N, x>3}, the set of all natural numbers greater than 3, i.e. {4, 5, 6, ...}

  3. The set of values greater than 3.

    You don't specify whether it is from values within the real set, or natural set or whatever. Assuming its integers then its the set

    {4,5,6,7 ...}

    You can read it as saying a set containing all the possible values of x where x > 3. This is usually stated as "x such that x > 3".

  4. The numbers that are greater than 3

    3,000...01, 3.000...02

    and they get bigger and bigger it can be 4, 5 and every number that's higher than 3
