The equation is :

x^2 - (p+5)x + (p+4) =0 has root a and b

Express a in term of b

x = p+4 or x = 1

I'm not sure what you want exactly, but here goes:

if a = p+4 & b = 1, then

a - b = p + 4 - 1

a = b + p + 3

if a = 1 and b = p+4, then

a - b = 1 - p - 4

a = b - p - 3
