    vish Hi !!

    mph = 1.467 fps

    Speed of the Man = 4 mph = 5.868 fps

    Speed of the train = 30 mph = 44. 01 fps

    in 5 sec the man travels = 29.34 ft

    in 5 sec the train travels = 220.05 ft

    1. - From the Diagram it is shown that Train Head and the Man inline at point S

    2. - The Tail of the Train is inline with the Man at point T

    So there for the Length of the Freight Train = Distance Train travel at 5 sec - Man traveled at 5 sec

    Length of the Freight Train = 220.05 - 29.34

    ======================================...

    Ans:: Length of the Freight Train = 190. 71 ft

    ======================================...

    hope this helps

  2. 4 mph times 5280 = 21120 ft per hour divided by 60 = 352 ft/min and 5 sec is 1/12 min so 352 times 1/12 is 29 1/3 feet.  That's how far the man walked.

    30 mph • 5280 / 60 • 1/12 is 220 ft which is how far the train goes.  Since the whole train passes the man, the end of the train is where the man is, so the train is actually 220 - 29 1/3 feet long

  3. 191 ft
