  1. ah

    rubix cube

    3 seconds

  2. Let G be green, W be white, Bl be black, Br be brown, 1 be Mrs, 2 be Mr.

    G2 W1 Bl2

    W2 Bl1 or Bl1 W2

To the right of Bl2 can only be Br1 or G1.

    Suppose it is Br1, then we have W2 Bl1 G2 W1 Bl2 Br1 Br2 G1, which cannot be since the 2 Browns are side-by-side.

    So, it has to be G1, i.e. G2 W1 Bl2 G1

To the right of G1 can only be Br2 or W2.

Suppose it is W2, then G2 W1 Bl2 G1 W2. In this case, the 2 Browns will end up side-by-side.

    Therefore it is Br2. Hennce G2 W1 Bl2 G1 Br2 Bl1 W2 Br1.

To the right of Mrs Green is Mr Brown.

  3. >>Provide a convincing argument to support your conclusion.

I asked it on Yahoo! Answers and that's what the people there thought!

  4. let the couples be Ww, Gg, Bb and Cc; with capital letters the husbands and lower-cased letters the wives (and C is Mr. Black).

Mrs. White sat with Mr. Green immediately on her left and Mr. Black immediately on her right.

    we get : GwC

Mr. White sat next to Mrs. Black.

we get : Wc or cW

    not mentioned were g, B and b.

must be : gBcWb or bWcBg

but g cannot be by G's side, so gBcWb is the only answer.

    GwCgBcWbG

answer : Mr. Brown. yes, a unique answer.

  5. Mr. Brown

    don't have any unique solutions..

    just plain trial and error..

but I had found a pattern..

in between the married couple are two other persons..

try to see this: (just assume that they sat at the round table)

Mr. Green - Mrs. White - Mr. Black - Mrs. Green - Mr. Brown - Mrs. Black - Mr. White - Mrs. Brown

  6. mrs. green
