The cost of the entrance ticket to an amusement park was reduced; as a result, the park experienced a 50% increase in the number of people coming in. At the same time, the profits from ticket sales increased by 20%. By what percentage was the price of the ticket reduced?

Build the model of this problem. Identify any relevant variables and equations, then follow with some calculations to find the answer.

Can anyone do this with giving the right mathematical equations. That would be great.

  1. Ticket price was reduced by 20%.

I really wish I could tell you how I know that, or came to that number but I kinda just did it in my head...

K, I will try to explain my reasoning.

If a ticket was $100 and 100 people bought them, you get a $10,000 profit. If there were 50% more people, you get 150 people buying tickets. If the sales went up 20% you get $12,000. $12,000 divided by 150 people is $80 per ticket. Thus price was reduced 20%.
