Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page lead 470 class at the 2012 ISAF Sailing World Cup: Day 2
After a convincing run on the second day of 2012 International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Sailing World Cup at Miami in Florida, Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page have made their way into the top of 470 Men fleet. They are currently leading the 470 class with
12 points after four races.
The 2011 World Champions and current World Number one pair, Belcher and Page finished third overall at the end of day one after sailing in only one race but they showed their class on day 2 and claimed the top podium place after clinching a second, first and
sixth finish in the second day heats.
Just like Day 1, the breeze was not strong enough for the fleet to have full-fledged Day 2 proceedings. The weather conditions were light again over the Biscayne Bay waters and the race committee had to try hard to commence the scheduled race and bring back
the excitement for spectators.
The Australian sailors believed that they had a good second day on Miami waters and despite having a collision with two boats coming on port, their boat received no damage. The Aussie pair then continued their sail and was able to claim the leading spot
in the fleet.
Dutch sailors, Sven Coster and Kalle Coster with a difference of two points grabbed the second podium finish while Argentinean competitors, Lucas Calabrese, Juan Maria de la Fuente hit the third place with nineteen points.
