Mathias Boe, Carsten Mogensen proceed to pre quarter-finals of 2012 Li Ning China Open
Men’s Doubles experts Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen showed superb coordination and ensured their presence in the second round of Li Ning China Open on November 14, 2012.
They cast out Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov in a 36-minute encounter which took place in Shanghai.
Though, this showdown ended in just two games but still the Danish pair had to put an extra effort to read the favourable figures of 21-11 and 21-16.
This splendid win in the opening round pit them against the Indian duo Tarun Kona-Arun Vishnu in the pre quarter-finals.
The twosome of Mathias and Carsten, currently the top ranked team of the world, is hot favourite for the title as both partners have made their intentions clear by sealing a straight-set victory.
In the opening match, they looked in prime touch as the Russian duo could not claim even a single match point.
Mathias and Carsten started the ball rolling in the very first set and maintained that momentum all the way to the final moments.
They prevailed in four consecutive rallies and placed a decent total of 4-0 immediately in the beginning.
Both Danish shuttlers did not drop their pace and reached a respectable score position of 11-3 before the interval.
The twosome of Vladimir and Ivan could not counter-balance the situation even in the second half of the set and they kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation.
Meanwhile, Mathias and Carsten bagged valuable points without any interruption and ended this crucial set with 21-11 score.
However, the following game was not a dead contest as this time the Russian campaigners matched their competitor’s skills and stayed close on points table.
They did not waste time and established a notable lead with 4-1 margin. They kept on moving forward at top gear and finished the first half of the set with a figure of 11.
Vladimir and Ivan were had the upper hand in third quarter of the set when the opposing shuttlers turned the tables with a staggering knock.
Mathias and Carsten bagged six out of ending seven points and sealed their victory with 21-16 margin.
