Men’s Doubles experts Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen showed superb coordination and remained invincible in the title match of BWF Superseries Finals on December 16, 2012.
They overwhelmed Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan by registering a straight-set victory in this 46-minute encounter.
However, it was not an easy win as they had to sweat hard to read a favourable result of 21-17 and 21-19.
The World Number one Danish pair laid foundation of its supremacy by winning a nerve-racking first set and then outshined the opposing team in the following game.
Mathias and Carsten were bit sluggish in the beginning but couple of back-to-back productive rallies provided them the required momentum.
They established a decent lead with 7-3 margin and relished full benefits of this initial advantage in next couple of rallies.
Meanwhile, the Japanese shuttlers also showed some spark and narrowed the gap before interval but they failed to carry this flow and remained far behind their competitors.
The twosome of Hiroyuki and Kenichi failed to counterbalance the situation and finished first half of the set with a four-point deficit.
This difference proved final blow for them in latter part of the game as they could not come out of their rivals’ influence and knelt down tamely.
Mathias and Carsten did not spare any loophole and played with an authoritative approach. They unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and pushed the opposing duo on back foot.
They did not make even a single mistake and won this set with a respectable margin of 21-17.
The following game was full of action as both contenders put all in their possession to oust the opponent.
They chased each other all the way to game point situation and kept the audience glued to the chairs. Their honest effort fetched great deal of admiration for them.
Initially, the Danish campaigners gained a notable advantage but then few unforced errors weakened their grip.
Hiroyuki and Kenichi made a swift progress on the points table and levelled the score at 17-17.
Both teams stood toe-to-toe in the final stage and this cliff-hanging tussle ended when Mathias and Carsten placed a winning total of 21-19.
