Mathias Boe – Carsten Mogensen enter into Men’s Doubles final of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals
Denmark’s Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen proved their supremacy over the in-form Koreans, Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong, in the Men’s Doubles semi-final of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, in Liu Zhou, China, on Saturday, December 17.
Boe and Mogensen, who are World Number Three at the moment, worked really hard to get rid of their Korean opponents in a thrilling contest. The Koreans played well but failed to maintain their domination in the match and lost it in three games of 51 minutes.
Sung Hyun and Yeon Seong played terrific badminton in the opening set of the match and won it with a decent margin. However, they failed to continue their attacking game in the following set and lost it with a huge difference. In the final game, Boe and
Mogensen showed no mercy to the Koreans and won the set with a remarkable score on the board.
In the opening game, both sides played attacking badminton by employing smashes and pushes and kept the bird low to put pressure on each other. Both sides progressed in the game without taking any lead until the end of the opening half.
After the break, the Koreans lifted up there level of play and stretched their lead. Boe and Mogensen failed to dominate the pace of rallies at the ending points and lost the first set with a margin of 16-21.
In the following game, Boe and Mogensen changed their strategy and started to dominate the game at net. They controlled the pace with their elite skills and showed no mercy to their lower ranked opponents. The Danish duo faced no trouble in finishing the
second set with a margin of 21-12.
In the final game, Boe and Mogensen continued their roller coaster run. They spared no chance for the Koreans in the whole game and won it with a remarkable score of 21-13. The end result of this Men’s Doubles rubber-set fight was 16-21, 21-12 and 21-13.
In the final contest of the tournament, Boe and Mogensen will take on China’s Chai Biao and Guo Zhendong, who defeated Korea’s top shuttlers, Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae in the second semi-final fight.
