Mathias Borg outshines Matthias Almer to surge into quarter-final of Croatian International 2013
Sweden’s elite player Mathias Borg continued putting up spectacular show as he won the Men’s Singles second round battle against Austria’s Matthias Almer and surged into quarter-final of Croatian International 2013 in Croatia, on Friday, April 13.
The higher ranked Borg, who is the third seeded shuttler in the championship, did now show any sign of confusion in the entire battle and easily punished his lower ranked Austrian opponent while consuming just 33 minutes on court.
The in-form Borg was quite comfortable in his aggressive play as he did not face any problem from his opponent and easily wrapped up a superb victory in straight sets with a staggering margin of 21-14 and 21-5.
Almer, on the other hand, could not put up strong show as he failed to match the pace of rallies against his aggressive Swedish challenger. He tried to play positive badminton but failed to create pressure on his challenger and lost the match in a lopsided
manner.
The hard to match speed and powerful strokes of Borg helped him to take control of the affairs from the initial points of opening game.
Borg proved that he has attained top class skills as he played with impressive confidence and remained in commanding position without facing any tough resistance.
Until the one-minute interval, the aggressive Borg was comfortable leading the game with a wonderful difference on the score board.
The un-seeded Almer tried his best to put up strong resistance but failed to take charge of the game and remained trailing in the concluding part.
Borg continued hitting powerful strokes in targeted areas and grabbed the first game with an inspiring 21-14 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Borg played with reasonable speed without sparing any opportunity for Almer to find a good flow.
Borg displayed his incredible skills on court by picking the bird timely from all areas and maintained his domination over his rival.
The impressive Swedish shuttler continued putting up reasonable performance in the second half of second game and remained successful in grabbing the game with a stunning margin of 21-5.
