Mathias Christiansen, David Daugaard prove their point in 2012 Danish Junior Cup
Men’s Doubles partners Mathias Christiansen and David Daugaard performed beyond expectations and smacked Kasper Antonsen-Oliver Babic to claim Danish Junior Cup title on October 14, 2012.
Both teams remained head-to-head for 57 minutes before ending this hard fought tussle with decisive figures of 21-18, 13-21 and 21-16.
This title match was staged in Gentofte, Denmark and both native pairs displayed superb badminton craft to entertain the local crowd.
The top seeded duo Mathias-David live up to their billing in the opening and ending segments of the battle whereas the opposing team could live its moment of glory only in the second set.
In first set of the match, Mathias and David prevailed in couple of establishing rallies and established an early advantage which ultimately helped them to pocket the opening match point.
They did not find any trouble in next couple of rallies and doubled the lead with few back-to-back points.
At mid-game break, they were in strong position when few unforced errors weakened their grip and allowed their challengers to narrow the gap.
However, they did not take much time to come out if this bad patch and tipped the scale in their favour with a staggering knock of 21-18.
The following game changed the scenario as the suppressed duo of previous set showed strong character and successfully avoided a straight-set defeat.
This time it was Kasper-Oliver’s turn to proceed and they did not fritter away this opportunity. They laid the foundation of their supremacy with an unbeatable series of well placed strokes and maintained the upper hand until the final moments.
The second seeded couple of the tournament proved their class by performing exceptionally well in pressure situation and pocketed this crucial match point with 21-13 score on the board.
Now both teams were just one knock away from a splendid win and they put all they had in third set of the match.
They made the crowd gasp with a captivating fight and earned great deal of admiration for their honest effort.
Finally, this tough competition ended when Mathias and David served notice of their dominance with an impressive margin of 21-16.
