Mathias Wigardt surges into Men’s Singles main round of Swedish International Stockholm
Sweden’s Mathias Wigardt has penetrated into Men’s Singles main round after crushing Switzerland’s Anthony Dumartheray in the final contest of qualifying round at the 2012 Swedish International Stockholm, in Sweden, on Thursday, January 19.
Mathias was terrific on court as he was uncontrollable for the confused Dumartheray, who failed to play competitive badminton in the whole match. The local shuttler made his home fans happy by playing remarkable game and ended the match in straight games in just 18 minutes.
It was a completely one-sided encounter as Mathias did not show any sign of mercy for his rival and bagged both games with an incredible margin.
The start of the first set was quite stunning for the Swiss, who could not maintain his speed with the pace of rallies. On the other hand, the local shuttler did not slow his speed and also kept his challenger moving around in the court.
Mathias played with aggression and maintained pressure on Dumartheray in opening half of the game. Until the one-minute break, the Swedish hero remained successful in building up an impressive lead of 11-2.
In the second half, the Swiss player tried to play better game but failed as his local opponent was perfect in his play. Mathias did not spare any room for his rival to make a comeback in the game.
The impressive speed and accuracy of Swedish shuttler helped him to end the first game with a tremendous margin of 21-6.
In the second set, Mathias started to play in the similar way and remained ahead of his opponent. However, Dumartheray was also playing fast game as compared to the first set. But Mathias was in complete control and managed an 11-5 lead until the break.
After the break, Mathias remained positive and showed urgency in finishing the game with an impressive 21-7 score on the board. The local man won the battle in straight sets with a remarkable margin of 21-6 and 21-7.
In the Men’s Singles main round, Mathias will fight against Kasper Dinesen of Denmark, who also won all of his matches in qualifying round of the tournament.
