The France international was on the verge of completing a move to Newcastle United but President, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Seydoux decided not to sell the player to the Toon which has annoyed the right-back
Last night, while talking to media, LOSC Lille president, Michel Seydoux, ended discussions with English Premier League side, Newcastle United over the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy. The Lille supremo feels that the offer from Newcastle was not according to
the value of the player and also added that he does not want the player to leave as the club has Champions League qualifiers coming up in August.
“I decided that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 remains at LOSC. The offer from Newcastle is definitely not at the value of the player. as we have significant challenges in August (incl. Qualification for the Champions League), we have stopped procrastinating.”
The recent turnaround has also caught Mathieu Debuchy by surprise. The 27-year-old had expressed his desire to leave the north of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and was as shocked as anybody upon hearing the president’s decision.
The right-back says that he has no idea why the president ended negotiations with Newcastle United.
“I expect him (Seydoux) to clarify this situation to me. I don’t get it.”
Debuchy also revealed that Rudi Garcia had already agreed not to become a hurdle in his path if a big club came calling. For a lot of weeks, Newcastle United have been trying to sign the France international. Initially, a 6 million euros bid was rejected
so the English side upped the bid to a reported 8 million euros.
However, Lille rejected this offer as well and now, the president is keen on having the player stay at the club for one more season.
However, Debuchy is not impressed with the obvious inconsistency shown by the president.
“One day, they told me they did not let me go because the club did not find my successor, another day, it is because Newcastle’s offer is inadequate. One day, the coach blocks (the transfer), another is the president.”
Hurt by how the club has dealt with the situation, Debuchy says that he wants things to be clear and done properly.
