The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 coach, who replaced Didier Deschamps at the helm earlier this month
The 57-year-old was appointed Les Phoceens' coach following the resignation of Didier Deschamps from the hot seat earlier this month and the Frenchman's appointment has been welcomed by the players at the club, particularly http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690.
Valbuena, who was a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 player when Baup was in charge of Bordeaux, has expressed his delight at the appointment of the former French footballer as Marseille coach.
The 27-year-old has claimed that the former Bordeaux coach has added much needed discipline to the dressing room. Despite being in charge for less than a month, the Frenchman has won over the players who are relishing the idea of playing under the guidance
of the new coach next season.
Valbuena in particular has been impressed by what he has seen so far of the 57-year-old and feels that the club needed someone like him, who could guide the club forward.
Marseille endured a disappointing 2011/2012 season that saw them finish 10th in the Ligue 1 campaign. Valbuena is hoping that Baup’s arrival will help OM improve this season as they look to compete for the podium position next season.
While talking to reporters, the France international revealed that he enjoys a good relationship with the former Nantes coach.
"I always had a very good relationship with him," Valbuena told reporters.
However, the 27-year-old stated that he doesn’t know much about Baup’s coaching abilities so it is unwise to comment on that.
"I do not know enough about him as a coach to really talk about him.”
After attending couple of training session under Elie Baup, the Marseille player has stated that the club have find the best coach in the form of Elie Baup.
"From what I have seen since Monday, he establishes the rules of life, and he has made it clear that he won’t compromise on discipline. This is what we need. He insists on it and it really is important."
Olympique de Marseille will face newly promoted Stade de Reims in their opening fixture of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign at Stade Auguste Delaune and fans would be hoping for a good start to the season.
